Who we are

CozyBaby is an app and website made by Emilio Faria, an independent developer based in Ireland. I'm the controller of the data described here. Contact: hello@mynameisemil.io.

The short version

  • What you tell CozyBaby about your child (name, birth month and year, gender) stays on your phone.
  • We only learn how you use the app if you say yes, and you can change your mind any time in Settings.
  • Apple handles purchases. Superwall runs our paywalls and receives some device data even before you answer; its usage events wait for your yes. Details below.
  • No ads. We never sell your data or track you across other apps and websites.

What stays on your phone

Your child's name, birth month and year, and gender. Your places, trips, bedtime settings, temperature unit and language. These are stored only on your device, never sent to us. Deleting the app deletes them.

Your choice about usage data

The first time you open CozyBaby we ask whether you'd like to share anonymous usage data. No usage data is sent until you answer, and "No thanks" is just as easy as "Yes". Your answer also covers Superwall's usage events. You can change your choice any time in Settings → Your privacy. Turning it off also deletes the random ID used for it on your phone. One thing doesn't depend on your answer: the Superwall device data described in the next section.

Premium, purchases and Superwall

CozyBaby Premium is optional and paid. Apple handles the purchase itself, including your payment details, under Apple's own terms. We never see your card. Superwall (Nest 22, Inc., US) runs our paywalls and sees the subscription status that results, working on our behalf as a data processor.

Usage events go to Superwall only after you say yes to usage data. If you say no, or haven't answered yet, that tracking stays off. Paywalls, purchases and restores work either way.

Before you say yes, and even if you say no, Superwall's SDK still fetches its settings when the app opens. If your phone has no active subscription stored, which includes every new user, it also sends an enrichment request with device attributes and identity attributes. This isn't a usage event, and it can't be turned off in the SDK version we use. Like any request over the internet, these requests show your IP address to Superwall.

We found this by reading the SDK's source code. We're still confirming on a real device exactly what the enrichment request contains, and we'll update this page if we learn anything that changes it. Superwall's own list of what its SDK can collect includes a user ID and aliases (random, because we don't give Superwall any name or email), a device ID specific to our apps, app and iOS versions, device model, language, region, currency, time zone, network type, screen appearance, low power mode, install date, paywall views, subscription status, and location estimated from IP address (country, region and city).

Your child's name, your forecast and your places never reach Superwall. A link from a widget that opens the app does pass through the SDK. It carries a random ID for the child, never a name, and we haven't confirmed whether Superwall records it.

The free trial reminder and the trip "forecast is ready" reminder are local notifications. They're scheduled on your phone and stay on the device.

On our website

  • Cookies: we only set an analytics cookie (PostHog) if you click "Sure" on the cookie bar. If you say no, we count visits without cookies. Change it any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
  • Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies or personal data.
  • If you sign up to hear when CozyBaby launches, your email address is stored by Formspark and used only to tell you about the launch. Each email has an unsubscribe link. The list is deleted 6 months after launch.

How long we keep data

  • Usage data (PostHog): 12 months.
  • Crash reports (Sentry): 30 days.
  • Superwall: for as long as CozyBaby uses Superwall, under its data processing terms.
  • Launch email list: until 6 months after launch.
  • Data on your phone: until you delete the app or the data.

Where data is stored

PostHog stores data in the EU (Frankfurt). Formspark stores data in the EU (Ireland and Germany). Sentry, Superwall and Vercel are in the US. Where data leaves the UK or EU, these providers use the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK addendum).

Children

CozyBaby is for parents and caregivers, not for children to use. What you tell us about your child stays on your phone. With your permission, we only receive their age range, never their name or birth date.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (UK, EU, Brazil, Canada, Australia, US), you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent. Because analytics data is anonymous, the quickest way is to turn sharing off in Settings. For anything else, write to hello@mynameisemil.io and I'll reply within one month. You can also complain to your data protection authority, for example the Data Protection Commission (Ireland), the ICO (UK) or the ANPD (Brazil).

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app.
